Starch, sucrose and maltose
Starch is a complex carbohydrate found in grain products, potatoes and pasta. It is also present in other grain-based foods like pasta, corn, legumes and processed foods such as biscuits, chocolate, chips, breaded meat products and snacks.

Sucrose, also known as saccharose or table sugar, is found in fruits such as apples, bananas, mangoes, pears, oranges, watermelon and in processed foods where sugar has been added, like biscuits and sauces.

Maltose, sometimes called malt sugar, is a carbohydrate formed when starch is broken down during digestion or food processing. It is naturally found in malted grains, beer and some cereals, and can also be present in foods such as breads, crackers, breakfast cereals and other starch-based processed foods.

Digestion of starch and sucrose in the body

Starch consists of two long chains of linked carbohydrate molecules. The digestive enzyme Gluco-Amylase breaks down starch in the small intestine into smaller sugars, making them easier to digest. If there is an insufficient amount of Gluco-Amylase, starch cannot be effectively broken down, leading to reduced absorption in the small intestine.

Sucrose is composed of two linked carbohydrate molecules: glucose and fructose. The Invertase enzyme in the intestines splits sucrose into glucose and fructose, allowing the intestinal wall to absorb them. If there is a deficiency of the Invertase enzyme, sucrose cannot be split and thus cannot be adequately absorbed in the small intestine.

Maltose is composed of two linked glucose molecules and is formed during the breakdown of starch. The Maltase enzyme in the small intestine splits maltose into individual glucose molecules so they can be absorbed by the body. If there is a deficiency of the Maltase enzyme, maltose may not be fully digested, which can contribute to digestive discomfort and reduced carbohydrate absorption.

Directions for use: Take one capsule with liquid (or twist open capsule and place contents in liquid and stir) immediately before eating/drinking a product containing either sucrose and/or starch. Lasts for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. 

Maximum of 15 capsules daily (for instances of severe food intolerance, taking 2 to 3 capsules can be safely tried if not a sufficient response from capsule, although not commonly required).

Contains per capsule: Invertase 17,000 IU (85mg), Glucoamylase 60 AGU (54.5mg), Amylase 30,000 DU (230.8mg), Maltase 300DP (3mg). Excipients: calcium carbonate, dextrose. HPMC capsule suitable for vegetarians. The enzyme Invertase is derived from the yeast Saccharomyces Cerevisiae. Glucoamylase is derived from the mould Aspergillus Niger.

Please note, sucrose, maltose and starch are not part of the FODMAP group, but are carbohydrates that people can be intolerant too similarly to the FODMAPs.

The new Pro version of Starchway is a game changer, one tablet just before a meal or having any kind of Carbs does the trick perfectly, speedy delivery too is much appreciated

Great Product

I suffer from multiple food intolerances, so I use both Quatrase and Starchway Pro whenever I eat a combination of foods. They have helped me a lot and allowed me to eat a wider variety of foods with less discomfort.
