Spiced cut-out biscuits
These biscuits can become stars for Christmas, circles for a lunchbox or any shape your cutters make. Chill the dough if it becomes difficult to handle.

Ingredients
- 250 g gluten-free plain flour
- 100 g softened butter or suitable baking spread
- 100 g caster sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Half a teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Half a teaspoon ground ginger
Method
- Cream the butter and sugar, then beat in the egg and vanilla.
- Stir in the flour, baking powder and spices. Chill for 20 minutes.
- Roll between sheets of baking paper to about 5 mm thick. Cut shapes and transfer to a lined tray.
- Bake at 180°C conventional for 10–14 minutes until the edges colour lightly. Cool before decorating; check icing and decorations for relevant allergens.
